Lolland produces more than 8 times as much electricity as can be used locally. Lolland is at the forefront when it comes to green and sustainable energy. The beautiful, futuristic, simple works of art adorn the landscape and tell the story of the island's green brand.

On the outskirts of Nakskov you will find a 2.4 MW solar park that can cover over half of the city's electricity consumption.

If you drive from Nakskov to Kragenæs (where ferries go to Fejø and Femø), you will pass through Horslunde and drive directly through the 26 MW solar park. An impressive sight.

Lolland is flat and therefore has a high wind index on Lolland. This makes the island very suitable for placing wind turbines. In 1991, the world's first offshore wind farm was built off the coast of Lolland, at Onsevig. 25 years later, it had served its military service and was dismantled again. Old, worn-out turbines are being dismantled all around the island and replaced with new, modern 150-meter-high turbines.

At the port of Nakskov, Vestas produces some of the world's longest wind turbine blades.
