The old pharmacy is one of Nakskov's most interesting buildings. The current front building with its impressive baroque facade was built in 1777. If you walk through the gate and into the courtyard, you will see the old gabled house from just after 1645, when Frederik III granted Nakskov a pharmacy license.
In 1796, the pharmacy was described as "the most beautiful building in Nakskov" and perhaps the best pharmacy outside of Copenhagen that the province could boast. When a traveling company of actors came to Nakskov in 1813, and there was no theater building or hotel hall large enough, the attic above the old pharmacy was used. For a number of years thereafter, balls and plays were held in the apothecary's attic.
Apoteket lukkede i 1995 og i dag har Nakskov Turistbureau hjemme i den flotte bygning. Turistbureauet er siden 2024 frivilligt drevet.
