As the largest town on an island, Nakskov has a greater concentration of popular shops and supermarkets than you would expect from a town of this size.
Søndergade is the city's pedestrian street, where most of the shops are located. Søndergade runs from the town square, Axeltorv, to Nygade, where you will also find a number of shops. On both sides of Søndergade there is parking and pleasant shortcuts into the pedestrian zone.
During the summer, Axeltorv hosts events, markets and entertainment.
