A short distance from Nakskov you will find a number of attractions around West Lolland.

Dodecalithium

A unique large work of art under construction in northern Lolland. Dodekalit means 12-stone in Greek and, when completed in 2025, will consist of 12 statues, carved in granite by artist Thomas Kadziola. The stones stand in a field, overlooking the Småland waters, where atmospheric ambient music plays from underground speakers.

Pederstrup

Lolland is known for its many beautiful old manor houses. Since the opening of the Reventlow Museum in 1940, it has been possible to visit CDF Reventlow's simple Empire main building at the Pederstrup manor house in the middle of the atmospheric park surrounded by centuries-old oak trees and two small lakes. In the beautiful adjacent park, you can also regularly find new outdoor art projects.

Queen Sophie's House

Just outside Nakskov is Halsted, where you will find Halsted Monastery, where Queen Sophie's house, built in 1591, is being restored and is open to public visits. In connection with Halsted Monastery, you will also find Halsted Monastery Golf Club, as well as the Halsted Dyrehave nature area, where you will find a beautiful large rhododendron, which is definitely worth a visit when it blooms.

Richard Winters hus

The house in Vindeby was the home of the artist Richard Winther from 1993 to 2007. It served as both a studio, workshop, art room and residence. In 1995, he decorated approximately 70 m2 with 56 ceiling and wall paintings. The motifs are almost all taken from Ovid's tales.

Frederiksdal

Just outside Nakskov, Frederiksdal Gods is located in one of the sunniest and warmest areas in Denmark. Ideal for growing the old Danish Stevn cherry, also called "The Grape of the North", from which they produce 120,000 liters of award-winning gourmet cherry wine every year. The winery is open to guests during the summer.

The Brasserie

At Søllestedgaard Gods you will find Brasseriet, which focuses on Lolland as a food region and offers gastronomic experiences rooted in home-grown ingredients, home-brewed beer and locally produced products.

Christianssäde

Christianssæde Slot is a beautiful old building that has been empty for 40 years after a fire, but is now being restored and converted into a hotel. The castle park and forest have recently been restored and opened to the public and are well worth a visit. The park also hosts the Whitsun music festival in Whitsun.

Langø

A cozy little fishing village on the south side of Nakskov Fjord, within cycling distance of Nakskov. Here you can experience a strong local community and buy fresh fish at the harbour. You will also find a cycling campsite in Langø.

 

The elbow

Albuen is a 7.5 km long curved headland. With good footwear it is possible to walk from Lolland out to the tip of Albuen, which can also be reached by boat. The area is distinctively flat and sandy with a rich wildlife. At the end are Albuen school, lighthouse and a few fishermen's houses.

Peter Hansen's garden

One of Northern Europe's largest privately owned plant collections can be found on the southwestern island of Lolland. The 55,000 m2 botanical garden is open to the public and is definitely worth a visit.

Vindeholme forest

On the southernmost coast of Lolland you will find Vindeholme forest and beach. Here you can explore the forest, find Vindeholme castle, and take a dip in the water. It is also possible to cycle along the entire South Lolland dike.

Fejø

From Kragenæs it takes 12 minutes with a cozy little open ferry, and you are on Fejø, an active island with around 500 inhabitants, a school, an old mill and lots of exciting things to experience. Fejø is known for its fruit, there are several orchards on the island and Apple Day is also held here.

Femo

From Kragenæs you can also take a ferry to Femø, where just over 100 people live. Femø is a very hilly and distinctive terrain. The island is known for its Jazz festival and women's camp.

 

Askø

By ferry from Bandholm you can visit Askø, a beautiful experience that lends itself well to being explored by bike. Askø is connected by a causeway to Lilleø, where you can visit the farm shop that sells Lilleø Vin, which is produced here and owned by the Danish entrepreneur and chef Claus Meyer.

 

Vejro

One of Denmark's smallest islands, Vejrø, at just 155 hectares, is located in the Småland waters close to Fejø. The island is privately owned and was purchased by Kim Fournais in 2005. Here you will find Hotel Blæsenborg, Karlekammeret, four guesthouses, Restaurant Skipperly, a regenerative agricultural production, hunting grounds, airstrip, marina and several boats for transporting guests to and from the island.

 

Maribo

Maribo is the second largest city on Lolland and here you can experience the beautiful old streets, the cathedral, the lakes and the open-air museum.

 

Knuthenborg Safari Park

Near Bandholm you will find Northern Europe's largest safari park, where you can drive around among the wild animals, visit beautiful parks, have fun in the playland and, as something new, also see an impressive collection of dinosaur skeletons.
