Within a short distance from Nakskov, you'll find a number of attractions around Vestlolland.

Dodekalitten

A unique large-scale work of art under construction in the north of Lolland. Dodekalit means 12 stones in Greek and when completed in 2025, it will consist of 12 statues carved in granite by artist Thomas Kadziola. The stones stand in a field overlooking the Småland waters where atmospheric ambient music plays from underground speakers.

Pederstrup

Lolland is known for its many beautiful old manor houses. Since the opening of the Reventlow Museum in 1940, it has been possible to visit C.D.F. Reventlow's simple Empire main building at Pederstrup Manor in the middle of the atmospheric park surrounded by centuries-old oak trees and two small lakes. The beautiful park also regularly hosts new outdoor art projects.

Queen Sophie's House

Just outside Nakskov is Halsted, home to Halsted Kloster, where Queen Sophie's house, built in 1591, is being restored and is open for public visits. Halsted Kloster is also home to Halsted Kloster Golf Club and the nature area Halsted Dyrehave, where you will find a beautiful large rhododendron, which is well worth a visit when it is in bloom.

Richard Winter's house

The house in Vindeby was the home of artist Richard Winther from 1993 to 2007. It served as a studio, workshop, art room and residence. In 1995, he decorated approximately 70 m2 with 56 ceiling and wall paintings. The motifs are almost all taken from Ovid's stories.

Frederiksdal

Just outside Nakskov, Frederiksdal Estate is located in one of the sunniest and warmest areas in Denmark. Ideal for growing the ancient Danish Stevnskirsebær, also known as the "Grape of the North", from which they produce 120,000 liters of award-winning gourmet cherry wine every year. The winery is open to guests during the summer period.

Søllestedgård Gods

At Den Grønne Verden at Søllestedgaard Estate, handmade vegetables, herbs and flowers are grown. They grow according to biodynamic principles. Juice and power are created from sun, wind, rain, changing temperatures and good, Lolland soil. Everything is grown in open fields, they only fertilize with horse manure and use a little water during the very dry periods.

Christianssæde

Christianssæde Castle is a beautiful old building that has been empty for 40 years after a fire, but is now being restored and converted into a hotel. The castle park and forest have recently been restored and opened to the public and are well worth a visit. The park also hosts the Whitsun Music Festival at Whitsuntide.

Langø

Cozy little fishing village on the south side of Nakskov Fjord within cycling distance of Nakskov. Here you can experience a strong local community spirit and buy fresh fish at the harbor. You'll also find a bicycle campsite in Langø.

Albuen

Albuen is a 7.5 km long curved headland. With good footwear, it is possible to walk from Lolland to the tip of Albuen, which can also be reached by boat. The area is a distinctive flat and sandy area with rich wildlife. At the end is the Albuen school, lighthouse and a few fishermen's houses.

Peter Hansen's garden

One of Northern Europe's largest privately owned plant collections can be found on the southwestern island of Lolland. The 55,000 m2 botanical garden is open to the public and is definitely worth a visit.

Vindeholme forest

On the southernmost coast of Lolland, you'll find Vindeholme forest and beach. Here you can explore the forest, find Vindeholme Castle and take a dip in the water. It is also possible to cycle along the entire South Lolland dyke.

Fejø

From Kragenæs it takes 12 minutes with a cozy little open ferry and you're on Fejø, an active island with 500 inhabitants, a school, an old mill and lots of exciting things to do. Fejø is known for its fruit, there are several plantations on the island and Apple Day is also held here.

Femø

From Kragenæs you can also take a ferry to Femø, home to just over 100 people. Femø is a very hilly and distinctive terrain. The island is known for its Jazz festival and women's camp.

 

Vejrø

One of Denmark's smallest islands, Vejrø, just 155 hectares, is located in Smålandsfarvandet close to Fejø. The island is privately owned and was bought by Kim Fournais in 2005. Here you will find Hotel Blæsenborg, Karlekammeret, four guesthouses, Restaurant Skipperly, a regenerative agricultural production, hunting grounds, an airstrip, a marina and several boats for transporting guests to and from the island.
