Nakskov Fjord is an exceptional natural area with many exciting islands to explore.
On a tour with the Mailboat
The mail boat sails public tours around Nakskov Fjord during the summer period. You can also book your own private tours with the boat.

The old natural sailing course around Slotø in Nakskov Fjord made it difficult for non-experts to navigate the waters. This was used to defend the town from the sea throughout history. Today, a straight channel has been dug into the town, which is often used by large cargo ships to unload wind turbine blades.
Hestehovedet
Hestehoved beach has the warmest water temperatures in the country and is very child-friendly, with beautiful South Sea sand and shallow water depth. It is connected to the campsite, ice house, holiday homes, restaurant, marina and outdoor activities such as volleyball and mini golf.
Enehøje
Among the many islands in Nakskov Fjord is Enehøje, where world-renowned adventurer Peter Freuchen lived. The island is the largest in the fjord and its highest point is a staggering 16 meters high, which is high even for Lolland. At the top you'll find whale jaws that Peter Freuchen brought to the island, as well as a sculpture of him sleeping at noon.

Slotø
On Slotø you'll find the ruins of Engelsborg Castle, built by King Hans in 1510. It was built as a castle and shipyard, as there was a natural water depth of 8 meters just off the island. At the same time, the castle could protect the entrance to Nakskov.
Albuen
Albuen is a 7.5 km long curved headland. With good footwear, it is possible to walk from Lolland to the tip of Albuen, which can also be reached by boat. The area is a distinctive flat and sandy area with rich wildlife. At the end is the Albuen school, lighthouse and a few fishermen's houses.

Vejlø
Vejlø is the largest privately owned island in the fjord.
Langø
Cozy little fishing village on the south side of Nakskov Fjord within cycling distance from Nakskov. Here you can experience a strong local community and buy fresh fish at the harbor or taste the delicacies at Langø Fiskebar. You'll also find a bike campsite in Langø.
